About this time last summer, our friends at Cornerstone Productions, a hidden gem housed in Mistick Village Art Cinema in Mystic, Connecticut, hosted Esra and our family to fundraise for her SnapDragon.
Cornerstone and the Cinema donated the proceeds from one showing of an energetic and creative show to Esra's Trust. It was an exciting weekend. Their support made going to England possible.
We wish we were in Mystic this summer to show our support for Cornerstone. We are excited for the launch of their Children's Theater. And, in partnership with the Mystic Aquarium, they are showing a darling play called "Luna's Sea". I am so excited for this family-friendly production. The package-deal with the treasure hunt and tickets to the Aquarium make this a great summertime outing in Mystic.
I hope you and your family will go. Please tell Hunter that Esra and her family wishes they were there to see the show. {Disclaimer: the Trust receives no benefit, except good vibes, for publicizing this event.}
Here's what their press release has to say:
“Luna’s Sea” is the story of a young child who is swept up into a mysterious puppet theater on the beach. Guided by a gentle moon-puppeteer, she journeys deeper and deeper into the ocean and explores the history of mankind’s relationship with the sea. Through the use of dance, puppetry, optical illusions and black light theater, the audience travels from the penguin inhabited shores of Africa through tides of elegant flying sting rays to the dark underwater homelands of bioluminescent animals, and in the end discover that all life on earth is ultimately connected.
The magical voyage of “Luna’s Sea” offers families with children under 12 a unique attraction that both educates and entertains. At the conclusion of the production, the journey continues when guests participate in a treasure hunt through Olde Mistick Village and are then admitted to Mystic Aquarium. During the treasure hunt, participants will have to find the secret Luna logos hidden within the village to receive a special reward. Families end with a visit to Mystic Aquarium where they experience many of the animals that were depicted in “Luna’s Sea.”
“Luna’s Sea” will run every Saturday morning at 10:30 AM a.m. from April 16 through October of 2011 at the Cornerstone Playhouse in Olde Mystic Village. Cost is $25 for the production, treasure map and admission to Mystic Aquarium. Aquarium members and military families received a special rate of $12 for the show and treasure map.
Update: Blame it on the recession, the heat wave or the casinos, but Luna's Sea ended its run last week. I hope Luna's Sea will come back again next summer.
